Data Use Policy
You may use RuinShield for roofing-contractor verification, homeowner due diligence, insurance documentation, and contractor self-verification. You may not resell raw data, bulk scrape the directory, remove source attribution, publish misleading reports, bypass access controls, or use the platform for unlawful discrimination, harassment, spam, or surveillance.
The paid member-portal bulk screener checks contractor lists against the 12-state roster (58,724 records, 7,350 flagged out of state) and board disciplinary records (19,581 records for WA, IL, MN, and LA today, and expanding); bulk lists stay in your browser or team workspace unless you export them, and you may not use them to build a competing dataset.
Reports can include normalized public records, NOAA storm context, a heuristic Storm-Chaser Risk Score, and clearly marked next checks for board disciplinary records, recent local permits, and a certificate of insurance to request — they are decision-support materials, not a guarantee of contractor quality.
RuinShield does not provide BBB ratings, live insurance or bond verification, national permit coverage, or real-time monitoring. Permit history is a free Miami-Dade County, FL metro dataset (25,712 roofing permits) today, expanding metro by metro; insurance is a certificate (COI) you request from the contractor; and a no-match does not prove a contractor is unlicensed.
Reports and pages preserve source labels and update context, with NOAA storm context attributed to the National Centers for Environmental Information. Public records can lag; confirm high-stakes decisions against the issuing board, the registration source, the local building department, or the contractor's insurer before signing.
